The Center for Equity in Engineering conducts research on all aspects of equity in engineering, ranging from future engineers (K-12 students) to current undergraduate and graduate students, staff, and faculty. The Center integrates research with practice to catalyze a culture change in Texas Engineering through a servingness learning organization framework to recruit, matriculate, support, and nurture a diverse community of students.
The Center’s efforts are organized by four overarching research questions:
- What are the components of a servingness learning organization?
- What roles do different institutional actors play in broadening participation in engineering?
- What does a culturally relevant curriculum look like in engineering courses?
- How can student support programs increase student retention and sense of belonging?
