Explore UT Volunteer Information

Volunteer registration is CLOSED. 

Help get people interested and excited about engineering and have a lot of fun along the way! Volunteer at Explore UT on Saturday, March 3, 2018. Last year, over 600 volunteers from over 100 student orgs, research groups and programs assisted with Explore UT in the Cockrell School of Engineering. The expected attendance of visitors to campus for Explore UT is more than 50,000.

Student Organization or Student Group Volunteering

If your student organization is participating, check with the officers to see if you can volunteer with them. Student organization volunteers do not need to complete the individual student volunteer form.

Volunteer registration is CLOSED. Volunteers are needed from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday, March 3, 2018. See below for the various volunteer roles.

Volunteer Roles

Explore UT Student Coordinators: 9 a.m. - 6 p.m.

Students are needed to lead various aspects of Explore UT throughout the day. Coordinators are expected to be available from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. the whole day. Coordinators will take the lead for overseeing volunteer check-in, the Wichita Street Info Booth, the CPE/ETC Info Booth, coordinating set-up, managing all plaza areas, etc. Roles will be based on interest and need. Training is provided Thursday, Friday or Saturday prior to the event.

Explore UT Department Support: 9 a.m. - 6 p.m.

Students are needed to lead various aspects of Explore UT throughout the day within departments. Needs vary based on department.

Set-up Help: 9:30 a.m. - 11 a.m.

  • Set up tables and chairs — layout provided
  • Hang signs on buildings — layout provided
  • Put volunteer snacks and drinks behind tables
  • Set out programs, stickers, and maps

TAME Trailblazer Activity Lead

Volunteer Time: Must sign up for at least one volunteer shift between 10:30 a.m. - 5:30 p.m. Tour our visitors through the TAME Trailblazer, get trained on the hands-on activities and have fun!

  • Get trained on the hands-on activities (easy to lead)
  • Share your engineering experiences with our visitors and have fun!

Information Booth

Volunteer Time: Must sign up for at least one volunteer shift between 10:30 a.m. - 5:30 p.m. Help give directions, hand out programs, bookmarks and giveaways, smile and greet visitors, have fun!

  • Familiarize yourself with the things going on in the Cockrell School during your volunteer time by looking at the program
  • Greet all visitors and ask if they need help finding an activity or session
  • Hand out maps, passports, Cockrell School of Engineering programs, giveaways, bags and more to visitors
  • Hand out snacks and drinks to volunteers as they need them
  • Clean up at end of the day
  • May have other tasks as they come up

Clean-up Help: 4:30 p.m. - 6 p.m.
