Degree Honors

The criteria for graduating with university degree honors is determined by the May graduating class. During the graduation ceremony we will announce tentative honors based on your current in-residence GPA. These honors will not include any current semester grades and will be subject to adjustment after all grades have been posted.

Official honors will be calculated at the end of the semester to include final grades. To qualify for honors you must have completed at least 60 hours at The University of Texas at Austin and be in the top 20 percent of your graduating class. The criteria for official honors will be determined based on spring grades after final grade reporting.

Certification of graduates and assignment of honors will not be complete until all final grades have posted. Starting in June, degree information will be posted to transcripts. Therefore, any announcement made at the ceremony are tenative and subject to change.
