The Cockrell School of Engineering at The University of Texas at Austin has once again been named one of the nation’s top engineering schools. In U.S. News & World Report’s 2020 graduate program rankings released this morning, Texas Engineering has been named the No. 11 best graduate program in engineering (No. 6 among public universities).
Additionally, the school’s aerospace, chemical, civil, computer, electrical, environmental and petroleum engineering programs all ranked in the nation’s top 10, with four programs in the top five: petroleum engineering at No. 1, chemical engineering at No. 4, environmental engineering at No. 4 and civil engineering at No. 5.
More than 2,100 students are currently enrolled in the Cockrell School’s 13 graduate degree programs, where they work alongside world-renowned engineering faculty. With more than 25 research centers and affiliated research units, graduate students have many opportunities to work collaboratively and develop solutions in high-demand areas that impact society and improve lives around the world.

U.S. News & World Report’s engineering graduate program rankings are based on student acceptance rates, faculty/student ratios, research expenditures, reputation among engineers in industry and academia, the number of doctoral degrees produced, the percentage of faculty elected to the National Academy of Engineering and entrance exam scores.
