Since 1956, Lockheed Martin has sponsored the Lockheed Martin Award for Excellence in Engineering Teaching to honor a faculty member for their exceptional teaching.

A nominee for the award is a faculty member of the Cockrell School with the rank of Professor who has shown to be outstanding in the field of engineering teaching. One nomination is accepted from each department and must include student input.
