There are three application deadlines depending on the type of program and the term you will study abroad. Some programs have an early admission deadline, a priority deadline and a final deadline for applications. Final deadlines vary by program and availability is determined after early admission and priority admission have passed.

Short-Term Application Instructions

To begin a Faculty-Led application:
  • Self-authorize access to the application.
    • Enter the year abroad (e.g. 2024), semester and application type (e.g. May Term) and the application code.
    • Please note: If your program code begins with “293”, you must email This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. to request authorization to apply. Include your UT EID and the program code in your email.
  • Faculty-Led applications only:  Faculty references are NOT required for Engineering programs. Please disregard this section. The foreign language section is optional and will not be considered in your application review.
  • To return to the application at any time after, log into MyAbroad.
Faculty-Led Deadlines to apply:
  • May Terms: Early admission deadline is November 1, 2023
  • Summer Programs: Early admission deadline is November 15, 2023
  • Spring Break: Early admission deadline is October 15, 2023

Semester Application Instructions

To begin a semester exchange application:

Exchange Deadlines to apply:

    • Fall 2024 exchange: Early admission deadline March 1, 2024

      • Priority deadline September 1, 2024
      • Final deadline October 1, 2024
    • Spring 2025 exchange: 
      • Early admission deadline March 1, 2024
      • Priority deadline September 1, 2024
      • Final deadline October 1, 2024
      • *NOTE* NUS, HKUST and TU Delft application deadline: August 31, 2023

To return to the application at any time, log into MyAbroad.

Be prepared to:

  • Pay the non-refundable $75 application fee* on What I Owe
  • Enter the application/program code
  • Submit two short essays
  • Submit your passport information if you have a valid passport. If you need to apply or renew your passport, you can leave this section blank as it is not required for final submission of the application. Passport processing times are up to 5 months, apply now.
  • UT disciplinary check (automatically submitted, no action required)
  • For Spring Break and Short-Term applications only: sign the financial responsibility statement, responsibilities of participation statement and code of conduct
  • Semester applications only: Have two UT Austin Faculty/TA/Staff complete two short question/answer reference forms online

* This fee is non-refundable, non-reversible and non-transferable. This fee is not refunded due to withdrawal or program cancellation due to COVID-19.
