Women Engineers at The University of Texas at Austin (WEatUT) is a residential summer camp designed for young women going into their senior year of high school who have an interest in math, technology, science or engineering.

Program Goals

The goal of WEatUT is to support you in your exploration of engineering as a career path. The program will cover the following topics:

  • Immersion into the World of Engineering: Deepen your familiarity with the engineering design process through hands-on collaborative challenges, expand your understanding of the diverse areas of engineering and the exciting career options.
  • Engineering Applications in the Real World: Learn and discuss how engineers shape our world through daily conversations with women industry professionals, Texas Engineering women faculty members and women engineering student mentors.
  • College and University Exploration: Tour the UT Austin campus, attend a Texas Admissions presentation, hear directly from current engineering students and familiarize yourself with the different majors available in the Cockrell School of Engineering.

Program Cost

In 2020, the Women in Engineering Program is able to provide WEatUT at a reduced rate. The cost of attending WEatUT 2020 is $200 and is only collected after you are admitted to the program. The registration fee includes housing, meals and programming for the duration of the camp. All students will be housed on campus.

Limited scholarships are available. Please indicate your interest in being considered for them in your application.

Application Process and Timeline

  • Application Opens: January 31, 2020
  • Application Deadline: March 15, 2020
  • Admissions Decision, including waitlists: April 1, 2020
  • Deadline to Accept Offer: May 1, 2020

WEatUT participants will be selected based on their completed applications. If selected, participants must submit the following fees and documents to the Women in Engineering Program no later than May 1:

  • Completed consent for treatment, release and indemnification and guidelines forms
  • School transcript
  • Non-refundable registration fee
