WEP Office Assistants

The WEP Office is seeking for hire several student Office Assistants, who are willing to start in April 2018, are available during the summer as well as fall 2018. Successful candidates will continue through the next year as well.

Application Deadline: Friday, March 30, 2018

Office Assistants must be available for a minimum of a 2 hour time blocks, between Monday through Friday, 8a-5p; starting hourly pay rate of $9.00. Occasional evening and weekend hours are required.

Successful candidates must:

  1. Be a currently enrolled, degree seeking engineering student
  2. Possess excellent communication skills both in person and on the phone
  3. Have a friendly, outgoing, mature and responsible attitude
  4. Be able to take initiative and be a self-starter
  5. Have a collaborative, team oriented outlook
  6. Maintain at least a 2.75 cumulative GPA
  7. Be able to move boxes/equipment/supplies and carry items up stairs

Office Assistant Roles may include any/all of the following duties/roles:

  • Front Desk Receptionist: greet and direct visitors in a shared office space, receive packages and manage intake for WEP, IEE and EOE offices/professional staff
  • General Assistant: answer phone, count/sort supplies, do inventory, sort, move organize supplies/materials, deliver documents/mail, various other program needs
  • Communications Coordinator: responsible for creating weekly WEP Events newsletter, generating social media posts, drafting role model and alumni blog posts, and other WEP communications needs
  • Leadership Seminar Teaching Assistant: responsible for preparing materials for weekly class, attending the class (Wednesdays 3 – 4:45 p.m.), managing attendance records, updating Canvas, and other class needs
  • Recruitment Coordinator: responsible for supporting WEP recruitment efforts, preparing materials for recruitment events, communicating with prospective students, and other WEP recruitment program needs
  • PAL Coordinator: responsible for supporting WEP PAL program, preparing materials for PAL events, creating the PAL newsletter, managing PAL monthly reports, and other PAL program needs
  • Engineering Ambassador Coordinator: responsible for supporting WEP Engineering Ambassador program, preparing materials for Engineering Ambassador events, and other Engineering Ambassador program needs

Peer Assistance Leaders (PALs)

Applications for the 2018-19 academic year are now open. Peer Assistance Leaders (PALs) provide connections for first year, new transfer and international engineering women to create a supportive network. As a PAL you will gain leadership experience, enhance your resume and benefit the WEP engineering community of women.

CEO: Options in Law, Medicine, Education, Public Policy & Non-Profit Areas

Women Engineers at The University of Texas at Austin (WEatUT) is an overnight program for rising high school senior women. At WEatUT, participants will explore how engineering benefits society and impacts the world through engineering sessions, interactive introductions to a variety of engineering areas and careers, and creative engineering design with fun hands-on engineering projects.
